Located south of the city, Daytona Beach Shores is a relatively new area, having only been established back in 1960. Stretching 5 1/2 miles / 9 km along the Atlantic coastline, this district is home to some of the city's best seafood restaurants.

The northern district of Daytona Beach meets with the southerly portion of the neighboring city of Ormond Beach and the distinction between the two areas is often vague.
